Working Rooms produces innovative educational curriculum-based activities every term, working with schools, youth centres and other community organisations in and around Hackney, on a variety of projects that provide skills training, and promote community cohesion and intergenerational conversation. It engages people of different ages, ethnicities and genders of the area of Hackney and broader London in creative activities that combine arts and other crafts like music, drama, sports, science and business.

Working Rooms Education includes :

1. Educational Projects. These are tailored to deepen the learning experience of young people and adults in Hackney first and East London, offering a wide range of interdisciplinary activities, with a focus on current issues, i.e. the preservation of natural resources, cultural identity and gender. Some of the projects include: Exploring Magnetism and painting; Design your own guitar; photography and your street; recycling art and design; storytelling and urban art; VJing; Create your own sound installations from your neighbourhood; Fashion and the Olympics: Design your favourite sport gear.


2. Internships. By offering internships, Working Rooms gives the opportunity for young people and adults to have a close experience of working in a creative environment and building on networks for career development. We also offer INSET day training to teachers and classroom assistants.


3. Residency programme.
The artists' in residency programme will start from Summer 2010. The artist in residence will work alongside the education team delivering workshops for pupils and students in schools and colleges in Hackney.


5. Art therapy.
We have a portfolio of artists and art and music therapists that deliver sessions in hospitals in and around Hackney.

Working Rooms is a fully accessible venue.

All projects are delivered by CRB checked, highly qualified and experienced practitioners in the areas of visual arts, music, dance and movement, science, creative writing including poetry and video artists.
